Get Connected
With rising costs of everyday essentials, such as food, fuel and heating, more of us are struggling to afford bills like mobile and broadband, leading to increased digital exclusion.
This is why Motherwell and Wishaw Citizen Advice Bureau (CAB) are launching a local campaign Get Connected, aiming to raise awareness about affordable internet and mobile options for those who need it most.
For those receiving certain benefits, some providers offer internet or mobile deals called a social tariff. If a provider has a social tariff, it is free to move to it and, if eligible, customers can move to this at any time. If their provider doesn’t offer a social tariff, we recommend they can switch to a provider who does. Information and support when switching broadband provider is available via this link: Switching broadband provider – Ofcom. On average, this one simple change could save those on benefits around £200 per year.
Motherwell and Wishaw CAB can support people in Motherwell, Wishaw & Shotts who are struggling to pay their bills. CAB’s online advice for help with managing bills is available here: If you’re struggling to pay your phone, internet or TV bill – Citizens Advice.
Further details on the Get Connected campaign is available on the attached flyer.
